bermuda

When talking about our vacation a thanks must be giving to my friend marty berry – who let us use her gps to navigate the streets of boston.  The drive to and from the port was one of my big fears in the whole vacation. I do not read maps well at all. I don’t understand why – I just can’t.  and mark doesn’t follow directions very well when he is driving – so between the both of us – we get lost a lot when in the car.  We have had MANY fights in the car over directions and getting lost.  So this was not how I wanted to start our vacation. GPS’s rule.

So we made it to boston just fine – we parked the car and within an hour we were sitting poolside with a bucket of corona. The kids & I very quickly were in our bathing suits and were splashing away.

As we pull away from boston, Daniel LOVED being able to watch the planes take off from Logan airport.

The rest of this day was spent by the pool and getting lost on the boat.  The kids LOVED the t-rex kids pool. There were two slides and a hot tub – doesn’t get much better than that.

The second day we had a adventure in one of the t-rex pools. Natalie had several loose teeth. She lost one before we left and I thought that she’d loose another on vacation – but didn’t think it would happen in the pool. I’m not quite sure what happened but Daniel was involved – the result is that natalie’s tooth came out IN THE POOL.  Mark and another father and his son (who had goggles)leaped into action and found the tooth!  Crazy!  And the tooth fairy even came for a visit on the boat!

The weather was perfect the whole time we were traveling to Bermuda and in Bermuda itself. There was only one day that was rainy. It was the first morning after leaving Bermuda. We woke up to rain. After breakfast, we walked near the outside pool and there were people in it. I thought to myself – who would be crazy enough to be in the pool now – it’s pouring!  Well those crazy people would be uncle Christian, johnmiles and leah. After seeing other in the pools it wasn’t too long before we were headed down to our room to changed and get in the pool. Once we were in the pool it was FUN. Since it was stormy the water in the pool was sloshing back – n forth creating waves.  The kids & I had a great time. And when we got cold – we run over to the hot tub for a bit!

Our time in Bermuda was spent on the beach. We went to couple different beaches. We snorkeled, played in the waves, built sand castles and just enjoyed being together.  Johnmiles was a bit upset that there wasn’t a lot of shells to collect. But he loves finding fish in the water. We brought goggles for the kids but they had a hard time “working” them.  Even without the goggles we were able to see a lot of fish swimming around – the colors were gorgeous

Since we not sure when or if we’ll be back in Bermuda – mark wanted to go fishing. He went on a several hour fishing tour. Out of the whole boat  ( about 20 or people) he was one of 5 people to catch a fish. He caught a trigger fish. He really enjoyed the chance to fish in different waters.

The food on the boat was great an was EVERYWHERE! I think my favorite was the blue lagoon. A place you could go any time of day and get a plate of fries, hamburger or wings! And the wings were good.  Three of the night we had dinner all together. It was nice to gather and hear about everyone’s day.Yes I was THAT person taking video inside the restaurant!

Natalie had fun at the kids center. Kind of like daycare on the boat. Notice I said Natalie. It took Daniel several attempts to go to the kids center. Now it’s not like mark & I don’t LOVE hanging out with our kids at the t-rex pool – cause we do – BUT every now and then you need some time away from your kids. Daniel was willing to give the kids center one last try when Natalie came back with her face painted as a pirate. For him that was the turning point. He LOVED it. You can also see our towel monkey hanging from the ceiling!

each night our room had new towel animal in it. the kids just loved this.  it was always exciting to see what animal it would be.  unfortunately i was not always able to take a picture of it before the kids took it apart - also the flash on our camera doesn't work so we have video of the towel animals!

Thank you to grandma & papa for the great family vacation.
