winter came back

so after a mild winter, we got snow and LOTS of it. last thursday, it snowed all day long. i think i was as happy as the kids. we went sledding in the back yard, built a fort, shoveled and tried out their cross-country skis. for some reason the kids love shoveling - i guess they don't realize it's work just yet! but we'll take it. they shoveled off the deck and front stairs. playing in the snow has really been fun. friday after dinner, mark turned on our outside lights and we played in the dark! even better.

the kids are continuing with thier swim lessons. daniel is gaining confidence in himself. this last week he used a kick board and would kick across the pool - with "no hands" - meaning that no one was holding on to him. natalie loves to swim under water and pushing off from the side of the pool. both kids love to jump into the pool!

i am working on a couple of projects in the garage. one involves an old door. right now i am working on scrapping the old paint off. i'll post some pictures of my progress. i am also going to start working on making a headboard for daniel. for his 4th birthday - yes i said 4th birthday - next month!!!! we are going to get him a big boy bed.

mark continues to cook wonderful, delicious and healthy meals for us. he is always in search of a new recipe of something new to try. last weekend he made a wonderful vegetarian corn chowder. it was fantastic. it was quickly added to our favorites list. we have been eating vegetarian for quite a while now and it is challenging for mark to find new ways to cook our veggies and grains!

Quinoa with some melted Gouda and cut sautéed zucchini and squash is really good!
