when natalie was born, we wanted her to have a special blanket to hjelp make bedtime easier(anything to make bed time easier!). the "blanket" was a small pink square that was silky one side and fluffy on the other. it had a bears head in the middle with a bell. he named evolved to become night nights. and i also don't know why but natalie had ALWAYS reeffed to it as a he. the one rule that we tried to follow wa sthe night nights was not allowed out of natalie room. i didn't want to always be searching for him and also didn't natalie to be carrying it out of the house. up until this past weekend - we were pretty good at keeping track of night nights. he has spent many night over gransparents houses. he even made the trip to bermuda and back. there was one time when grannie had to mail him back to us - but natalie was little and doesn't remember that!
BUT...
sometime on saturday, he was brought out of his room and we can't find him......the first night was ROUGH. natalie told me that her"heart hurt" and that she "missed the sound of his bell" mark and i spent a long time searching the entire house, in the basement, the closets, the kitchen cabinets, i even looked outside in the front yard! nights night is missing. natalie is dealing with this very well. she talks about him and about missing him - but doesn't cry anymore at night when going to bed.
on wednesday, grandma searched the stores for a replacement. she was able to find a white square with a duck head in the middle. natalie thinks this is just great. she frankly said that she will not called this blanket night nights. nothing is as special as night nights. so she named him quackers. she said this morning that quackers had a different sound and that he smells better! now that quackers is in our life - i expect to find night nights over the weekend! isn't that how it always happens!
popcorn(boy) and cricket(girl) are so much fun. popcorn is the orange tabby and cricket is the all black. they are so good with the kids. only once has natalie been scratched and that was cause i turned on the vacuum not knowing that popcorn & natalie were standing behind me.
kindergarten continues to be lots of fun. natalie loves that her teacher is left handed - just like her! she likes writing in her journal, learning math and mostly LUNCH time. she is a social bug. the first week of school natalir didn't eat much of her lunch - but then i found out that she was siting next to her two best buds and chatting the whole time. i am not too worried about this - i know that when she is hungry she will eat.
both kids are platying soccer for the fall season. natalie is on the orange team and daniel's "team" doesn't play games but practices the basics. getting ready for next year when they will both be on teams!
