blackberries & beach

one night last week after dinner, we took the kids for a hike down a dirt road near our house. i always like finding a new hiking path near the house - and i HATE to say it but it would be good cross country skiing. on our way out of the woods, mark noticed blackberries. there were some many, that we went back the next night with tupperware in hand. we came out of the woods with at least 5 cups of blackberries!

grandma & papa came for dinner, a fire pit & to be test subjects of the pie. overall it was a success! the kids loved the pie so much that we went back to pick more berries tonight.



today, i played hookie from work and took the kids to the beach with grandma & papa. we went to york harbor beach so that the kids could jump in the waves and look for crabs in the tide pools. on the way to the, we had to sit in traffic for a few minutes and this is what daniel did.

he kept telling me that his mustache smelled like mint!

it always amazes me how quickly the kids make friends at the beach. natalie noticed a couple of girls building a castle and it wasn't too long before we were all helping out.
